Corporate gifting season is here, and every year companies face the same question: Every year, we pack up Silked and head to St. Petersburg, Florida, for Shop Small weekend. Hundreds of small businesses come together at Vinoy Park, and thousands of people spend the weekend discovering, shopping and supporting independent brands. We love it because we actually get to meet the people who use Silked. And last year, one of those conversations reminded us what gifting is really about. A high school principal visiting from Chicago stopped by our booth. She wasn't shopping for herself. She was looking for something special for the teachers and staff at her school. Our founders at Silked are so honored to be working with T-Mobile on the Showfields platform this Black History month as they lift the visibility of Small Black Businesses. Mentor to Dr. King, Bayard Rustin once said “We are all one - and if we don’t know it, we’ll learn it the hard way.” We love this quote it highlights a major reason why this is true: As we all know it takes a village and each of us teach each other how to be the change we want to see in this world and we do not have to do it alone.  Many people dream about accomplishing their dreams, as did we when we started Silked.
